Description


SMART notes are a valuable tool in patient management, communication, practice management and marketing. The SMART note helps clinicians develop a course of treatments based on George Doran's SMART goals. The process of creating a SMART goal/objective structures, clarifies communication and defines clinical roles and responsibilities for a specified time. It is a patient-centered document which complements the clinician-centered SOAP note.


SMART notes are used for current and prospective patients alike. It answers some common patient questions: “What outcomes can I expect, how often do I need treatment and what do I have to do?” It gives the patient structure and predictability while holding them accountable.
